Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Amid the cancellations, shutdowns and lack of toilet paper on store shelves, the spread of COVID-19 has affected the lives of many throughout the world. However, in these uncertain times our community has shown its strength and unity. Providing lunch for children and families who need it, access to free educational materials for students to continue learning from home and taking the necessary precautions to slow the spread of the virus are just some of the ways people have shown their love for one another. Be assured, God’s love cannot be cancelled.
As the summer camp season draws near the Board of Directors have been in earnest prayer and discussion to ensure that the necessary precautions are taken to safeguard the health of all. Taking this into consideration, we have made the decision to cancel all events until further notice. We will continue to monitor the information coming from the government and the CDC as we make decisions regarding future events. In the meantime, we will continue to be proactive in preparing for our camp weeks in hopes that our campers can experience God at Sylvan Hills Christian Service Camp this summer. Our amazing deans have been flexible in working on alternatives in the event that school closures affect our current schedule, we will take extra precautions to make sure that our facilities are properly sanitized and are hopeful that these challenging times will be behind us soon; spreading love, not illness. We will continue to pray for God’s guidance and wisdom in our decision making through the coming months, and ask that you keep the future of Sylvan Hills in your thoughts and prayers.
