God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…
…who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to
Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood:
Grace and peace be yours in abundance.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky,
over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
…the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you
and will be in you.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we mayalso share in his glory.
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives everyone a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily.
What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.
Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit…
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life.
So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…
Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save,
nor his ear too dull to hear.
Jesus Christ in the flesh was both God and man; that He was born of a virgin and that He lived a sinless life, in which He taught and did mighty works and wonders and signs exactly as revealed in the four Gospels; that He was crucified, died as a penalty for our sins and was raised from the dead bodily on the third day. Later he ascended to the Father’s right hand where He is head of the church and intercedes for believers. He will come down from heaven again, to earth to receive His own to be with him forever.
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will
call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all
things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light
shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is
the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the
evidence of the works themselves. Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater
things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
“If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit
of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not
leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that
day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me.
The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”
Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone
who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
“All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will
remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts
be troubled and do not be afraid.
“You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is
greater than I. I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this
world is coming. He has no hold over me…
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried,
that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…
…regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life was a descendant of David, and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God
in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.
After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,”
they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the
same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
… to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time—God,
the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords…
…while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ…
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth,
visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before
all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among
the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to
reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
The Bible is God’s Word to us. Human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, wrote it. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. God inspired the autographs (original writings) of the Scripture and those autographs were consequently without error. We accept the Bible as the final authority or all matters of faith and practice.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness…
Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never
had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus.
Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.
All your words are true;
all your righteous laws are eternal.
And the words of the Lord are flawless,
like silver purified in a crucible,
like gold refined seven times.
“Every word of God is flawless;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.”
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and
marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
We believe the Bible teaches that salvation and the forgiveness of sins is a free gift to us but that we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. We believe the Bible teaches that one receives God’s grace by putting faith in Christ, repenting of sin, confessing Christ, and being immersed into Christ, but that none of these is sufficient in and of itself for the assurance of salvation.
This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down
to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God — …
…he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit…
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained
access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!
Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise
from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.“
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord…
In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish,
but everyone to come to repentance.
“Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.”
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
…and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we
live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore
buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too
may live a new life.
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that
our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because
anyone who has died has been set free from sin.
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
…having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised
him from the dead.
…and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience
toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ…
