Please see the Dean when arriving at the camp to determine where you need to be and where your bunk assignment is. Registration begins at 3:30pm (Little Girls & Guys: Register from 5 – 6 pm) All campers and parents must come through registration and stop at all table areas. After campers are finished registering they will find their bunks & then proceed to games/activities until the supper bell is rung.

Check-in and check-out procedures for campers are to be done at the Office (located in the Dining Hall).

Pennsylvania Criminal History & Child Abuse Clearances are required for all staff who volunteer at Sylvan Hills! If you have not resided in Pennsylvania for the last 10 years you must have your FBI clearance.

Required Clearances:

  • Act 151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
  • Act 34 Pennsylvania Criminal History Check
  • Act 114 FBI Criminal History Report
    • Only required for those who have not resided in Pennsylvania for the last 10 years. If you have lived in Pennsylvania for more than 10 years you will be required to sign an affidavit stating that you have lived in Pennsylvania for the last 10 years and have not committed any crimes.
    • Not free for volunteers.
    • Apply online at: https://uenroll.identogo.com/workflows/111VQ. After you apply you will be required to have fingerprints taken at a certified site.

*If you have not completed the clearances listed within the last 5 years, you must have these clearances renewed in order to volunteer.

It is strictly prohibited for Campers and staff to wear revealing or suggestive (distracting or disruptive) clothing at Sylvan Hills Christian Service Camp. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Tank tops with exceedingly open underarms
  • Halter or fishnet shirts
  • Muscle shirts
  • Spaghetti straps
  • Bare midriffs or backs
  • Lycra or spandex materials
  • Trousers not appropriately worn around the waist.

 

No undergarments or cleavage may be exposed.

When standing with arms down, a camper’s/staff’s upper garment should meet the lower garment.

When standing with hands down to the side, the bottom of the skirt/shorts shall not be above the extended fingertips.

Campers/staff must wear footwear at all times. At least one pair of sneakers is needed.

Swim wear – trunks for boys, modest one-piece OR tankini swimsuits for girls.

  • A Bible
  • Pens and/or pencils
  • Notebook
  • Water Bottle
  • Sleeping bag or regular bedding
  • A pillow
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Soap, towels, etc.
  • Appropriate clothing for all activities (see “Dress Code” for details),
  • Flashlight
  • Umbrella
  • Money for missions! (All money is to be deposited during registration. No money should be kept in the dorms or cabins).
  • Electronic devices (Please see “Electronics Policy”)
  • Pets
  • Pocketknives
  • Weapons or magazines
  • Fireworks
  • Drugs
  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco products

Please do not bring electronic items with you.  There is no internet access for devices except those that Sylvan Hills has onsite.  We do have a computer available if you need to check email while staying here.

If you choose to bring an electronic device (such as a laptop, cell phone, etc.) Sylvan Hills Christian Service Camp and those staying at the camp are not liable for broken, damaged, or lost items.

*We ask all staff to please use caution if you decide to bring any electronic items to camp.

Any staff bringing in prescription medication should bring only enough for 7 (seven) full days.
(Beginners bring in 3 (three) full days.)

All medications must be given to the Nurse.

PLEASE NOTE: Medications brought to camp MUST be in the original container with the dispensing instructions. Please do not bring in over-the-counter medication. Let the nurse know what you may need, and if we do not already have it, we’ll get it.

There are procedures in place if an emergency occurs.

There is a Nurse available during the week of camp that can assist a camper, staff or you if an event occurs. We do have forms available in the office to report any situation that may occur.

If you have certain dietary needs please let us know before you come to camp and we will have space available for you to bring your own food to store in the Kitchen.
